Today, we will disturb you!
Thousands of Greeks have been flooding the Greek Ministry of Health, Medical Associations, the Parliament and the Media with messages of protest, in memory of young Amalia Kalyvinou, who died last week after fighting cancer on one hand and the corruption of the Greek National Health System on the other.
The biggest electronic protest that has ever taken place in Greece, is already in motion today, June the 1st, 2007, with thousands of citizens participating. They demand efficient doctors and optimum healthcare – without bribing and bureaucracy.
This day was chosen as it coincides with the completion of 1 week since Amalia died, while she was already documenting her personal agony in her own blog
http://fakellaki.blogspot.com/ Her aim was to awaken as many people and consciences as possible, trying to show that there are ways to resist the self-regulation and authority of dishonest and heartless doctors, and also the bureaucrats of the Greek National Health System.
The movement of protest begun early in the morning and will continue until midnight. It is only the first reaction, since thousands of Greeks bloggers from every corner of the country and abroad, join in the internet and promise to keep on protesting until things change for real.
